Sports Field Sands
Sports field sands are washed, screened silica sands used on a variety of surfaces, from artificial turf pitches to volleyball courts, from golf bunkers to tennis and padel courts, and outdoor sports areas. Sand of the correct particle size and cleanliness directly determines the field's drainage, playing performance, player safety and surface lifespan. At Seyman Maden, we supply washed, low-dust silica sand in different fractions for sports facilities.

Artificial Turf Pitch Sand

On artificial turf pitches, silica sand is spread between the turf fibres to keep the fibres upright, give the surface stability and provide drainage. Rounded, low-dust sand generally in the 0,3-0,8 mm range is preferred. Approximately 15-25 kg of sand is used per square metre; this varies according to the pitch size and turf type.

Volleyball Court Sand (Beach Volleyball)

In beach volleyball, outdoor volleyball courts and training areas, soft, fine-grained, washed silica sand is used. For volleyball court sand, it is important that the grain structure is round and free of sharp edges so that players are not injured when falling, and that the sand is clean (free of stones, clay and foreign matter). Well-draining sand allows the court to be usable quickly after rain. We supply beach volleyball sand in the appropriate fraction for hotel, holiday village, sports facility and municipal beach volleyball courts.
Golf Course (Bunker) Sand

On golf courses, special white-beige, washed silica sand is used for the sand bunkers. For bunker sand, an appropriate particle size to prevent the ball from burying in the sand, playability, good drainage and an aesthetic colour are important. High-purity sand with a homogeneous particle distribution provides consistent playing conditions in the bunkers.
Tennis Court (Artificial Turf) Sand

On artificial turf and synthetic tennis courts, silica sand is spread between the turf fibres to keep the fibres upright, give the surface stability and ensure the ball bounces evenly. Washed silica sand with a controlled particle size creates a homogeneous playing surface on the court and supports drainage, allowing the court to be usable quickly after rain. A fine-to-medium fraction (approximately 0,3-0,8 mm) is generally preferred; the amount spread is adjusted according to the fibre height. (Note: clay courts are a different material group; this page covers artificial turf/synthetic court silica sand.)
Padel Court Sand

Padel is a rapidly growing racket sport, and its surface uses silica sand spread over artificial turf. Padel court sand keeps the turf fibres upright, allows the foot to grip without slipping, and supports an even bounce of the ball and the correct tempo of play. The amount of sand used directly affects the feel of the game: sufficient sand is important both for player comfort and for the expected bounce behaviour of the ball. Washed, low-dust silica sand with a controlled particle size (generally 0,3-0,8 mm) is preferred. We supply padel sand in the appropriate fraction for new court installations and for topping up (renewing) the sand of existing courts.
Outdoor and Other Sports Areas
Washed silica sand tailored to the application is also used in children's playgrounds, fitness/obstacle-course surfaces, equestrian riding arenas and similar outdoor sports areas. We determine the right fraction together according to your needs.
