Filter Garnet

Filter Garnet Product Description
With its high density and hardness, garnet is one of the most efficient filter media in water treatment systems. In multi-layer filtration systems, it is used in the bottom layer of downflow filters. Thanks to its high specific gravity (4.0–4.2 g/cm³), it retains particles in the 10–20 micron range, providing superior filtration performance.
In multi-layer filter systems, garnet is placed in the bottom layer, filter sand over it, and anthracite at the very top. This layered structure enables each layer to retain particles of different sizes, increasing the total filtration efficiency. The high density of garnet guarantees that it remains at the very bottom even during backwashing and prevents layer intermixing.
Owing to its chemical inertness, it does not react with water or other filter media. Its high hardness (7.5–8.0 Mohs) and mechanical durability provide long-lasting filter performance. It is used across a wide range, from industrial wastewater treatment to drinking water treatment.
